THE FOUNDER

Edward von der Schmidt began Datum Research in 2023. A Princeton University graduate with a concentration in Economics, he brings a decade of Wall Street experience in fixed income capital markets, interest rate sales, and global macro strategy.

Prior to leaving his institutional finance career, he was the lead author and manager of a flagship daily Global Macro Commentary at a preeminent investment bank.

In addition to following markets-related and geopolitical developments, Mr. von der Schmidt has since dedicated considerable research capacity to better understanding software, privacy, and information systems generally.
